My Take On QUEEN - 'A Delightful Entertainer Made With Heart'

Some films amuse but don't really become memorable while some not only succeed in amusing, also at the same time turn out as amazing cinematic experience. Queen definitely comes under the latter category. Its such a feel good woman centric flick that tells the story of a young innocent bubbly lass whose life changes after her fiance calls off their marriage just before two days. Its a simple story yet its filled with such gem moments that leave you spellbind. Credit goes to the director Vikas Bahl who has beautifully treated this film courtesy natural emotions, genuine humorous portious through out which never look sloppy or sluggish. He is a fine director. No two thoughts on that. Performances wise, its wonderful too. In side roles, the impeccable Rajkummar Rao impresses as always and Lisa Hayden is a revelation. Also the three foreigner friends of Kangana have played their parts very well. But expectedly, Kangana Ranaut emerges as the ultimate winner among all. She sinks her teeth into and owns the portrayal of Rani like real flesh. She deserves all ovations & awards for such a flawless performance. I strongly feel, she will walk away with all the Best Actress trophies in every award show next year. Hats Off KANGANA! You are indeed the QUEEN. Similarly music of the film is quite cool and captivating. Amit Trivedi has again stood up. O Gujariya is my favorite number from the album.

Thus overall, Queen is a special entertainer that shines from start to bottom. Its one of those rare well made films that provides quality entertainment and roots for woman's self discovery and importance. Its purely rich in substance. I hope we witness this type of gem movie more in Bollywood. Its a true modern day classic. A winner all the way!

Please don't miss it those who havn't seen yet.

My Take On EK VILLAIN - 'An Arresting Musical Thriller Despite Occasional Loopholes With RITEISH's Best Act'

This musical revenge drama is watchable and even likeable because of its appealing storytelling, moving romance, thrilling twists & turns, solid performances especially of Riteish Deshmukh's never seen before corking devilish act and of course its mesmerizing songs! But this avenge story isn't something that is unique or a new one. It does remind you of  MURDER 2 though the plot of both these films is different. However, director Mohit Suri succeeds in keeping your interest well intact till the very end thanks to the way he brings changes in scenes from flashbacks to present ones despite few hiccups at times. The film becomes unconvincing post interval for a bit but fortunately grabs momentum thereafter. As far as acting is concerned, everyone does an appreciable job. Siddharth, in his 3rd movie, as an angry young baddie does justice to his intensed character. He is both earnest and believable. Shraddha is fantastically endearing and looks damn awesome. But but but... its Riteish Deshmukh playing a frustrated common man turned murderer is simply first rate and definitely the best thing about this movie. I was so amazed to see such versatality from an actor who is mainly known for his comic timing. Wow Riteish, You Rock!
Of the supporting casts, Aamna Sharif & Shaad Randhwa have performed nicely. And i must say, KRK(The Controversial Drama King) has entertained well in a cameo. Another huge pluspoint of this film is its wonderful music. After the musical blockbuster AASHIQUI 2, Composers Mithoon & Ankit excel in providing tuneful melodies once again. Among the tracks, Banjara is my favorite followed by Hamdard.

Thus, i had a good time viewing Ek Villain if not great. Its one of the better films of the year and a worthy musical successor to Mohit Suri's last outing AASHIQUI 2.

My Rating - 3.5/5

My Take On HOLIDAY : A Soldier Is Never Off Duty - 'Works Partly, Comes Out As A Decent Watch'

Holiday is definitely better than most of Akshay's mindless movies but still due to the lack of realistic touch and more emphasis on commercial angle, it couldn't emerge as a remarkable film despite potential.

PLUSSES - A Heart-Wrenching Premise, Some Stellar Moments & Dialogues, Akshay Kumar's Commited Act, Action Sequences mostly are nicely done

DRAWBACKS - Lack of genuine treatment to the script, Tacky writing in the screenplay, Unnecessary arrival of songs, Puerile comedy & romance, Wastage of Sonakshi & Govinda, Mediocre Music.

So overall despite several hiccups, ‪‎Holiday ‬is worth watching as its made with such noble thought.

My Rating - 3 / 5

Do give it a view!
