My Take On JAI HO - 'Flawed But Well Intentioned'

Honestly speaking i am not fond of south movies and their remakes that are being seen in bollywood a lot these days. Yet there are some films that not only mindlessly entertain but also mean to give a strong message for the welfare of society! Jai Ho is one of those movies definitely!!! However better execution would have made this film far more gripping than it actually is. Sohail Khan picks a good script to direct which apparently is a rip off from Stalin, a Telegu movie, but fails to make full use of it. He unnecessarily puts some slapstick humor, tacky scenes and irrelevant dramas. Still Jai Ho benefits from some bravura moments that worth applause. The scene pre interval is solid with the leading man Salman in his full robust form beating up the baddies and delivering that famous 'Aam Aadmi. . . . .' dialogue. His other one liners don't stand apart much though. Then another terrific scene is when Salman along with Tabu come to confront the Home Minister Danny in his office. i really enjoyed that moment. There are few more lauded ones too. But Jai Ho's biggest merit is its important moral that 'helping 3 people chain' process i must say, is commendable. There are so many actors in the film. But among them, TABU is just top notch. She as always has performed very well. Master Naman is totally superb and  amuses thoroughly. Pulkit in a tiny role also makes a mark. Mohnish Bahl impresses too while Danny is alright in the negative role. Daisy Shah, meanwhile, is too ordinary as an actor. She has got nices movie though. However i don't think she will survive in bollywood for a longer time. And then of course, Salman who shines for the most part. He is not entirely brilliant yet gives out a striking effort and atleast tries to b different from most f his recent mediocre hits. He saves the film to a large extent. Music of the film is nothing much to speak off. Action portions seem decent but mostly stale plus repetitive.
Jai Ho is anyway Salman's typical movie with Sohail's amateurish direction but its content places it way above than many of his awful blockbusters. A better director like Raju Hirani or Ashutosh Gowarikar would certainly have taken this movie to a completely different level. Still JAI HO is likable for its sincere and noble subject.

My Rating - 3.5/5
After Garv, its easily one of Salman's appreciable films! Watch it friends!
